The accessibility of the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Krasnoznamennaya Street and Varshavskoye Highway in Brest has been reviewed.

Pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Krasnoznamennaya Street and Varshavskoye Highway.

A high curb at this location makes crossing difficult for people using wheelchairs, mobility scooters and other mobility aids. Parents with strollers and other people with reduced mobility may face similar difficulties.

A high curb makes it difficult to move from the sidewalk onto the crossing.

A request was submitted to the municipal services asking them to inspect the crossing and provide a convenient transition between the sidewalk and the roadway.

Following consideration of the request, it was reported that work to lower the road curbs and provide the required pedestrian approach slope is planned for July 2026.

The work is expected to be carried out in accordance with applicable construction standards.

Lowered curbs and smooth transitions are an important part of an accessible urban environment. They help people with disabilities and other people with reduced mobility move around the city more safely and independently.

The Belarusian Public Association for Assistance to People with Disabilities “Invalid i Sreda” will continue to follow accessibility issues concerning urban infrastructure.
