Belarus has updated the procedure for assigning and paying the care allowance for a person with group I disability or a person who has reached the age of 80.
The changes are set out in Council of Ministers Resolution No. 375 of 24 July 2026.
One important change concerns families in which a child with a disability reaches adulthood. Parent pensioners and guardian pensioners will be able to keep receiving the care allowance if, after the person turns 18, disability from childhood of group I is established.
The approach to the period covered by the allowance has also changed when group I disability from childhood is established for the first time. If the application is filed within the set deadline, the payment may be assigned from the day the disability is established.
The rules also allow the allowance to be paid while the person who needs constant care is in inpatient treatment, if the allowance recipient continues to provide care in the healthcare facility.
