"By Helping Nature, You Help Yourself"
In mid-June 2024, volunteers from the Inclusive Centre for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles in Brest, part of the public association "Disabled People and the Environment," held a three-day cycling marathon titled "By Helping Nature, You Help Yourself." The event took place on the grounds of the base school in the village of Yatskovichi, Brest District. The programme consisted of three main activities: an environmental relay race, a children's health fair, and bicycle races.
On the very first day, our team of 20 people, who had come from different towns across the Brest Region, became a close-knit family. Goodwill and mutual acceptance widen the boundaries of communication, while togetherness and mutual support multiply our strength a hundredfold and fill the pursuit of a shared goal with a rich variety of forms and approaches.
A couple of notes: I rendered the organisation's name as "Disabled People and the Environment" — if the association uses an official English name or a transliteration ("Invalid i Sreda") on its materials, that should be used instead. "Базовая школа" I translated as "base school"; for an international audience "lower secondary school" may read more clearly.
