For active work on the social protection of young disabled people, the Brest Regional Executive Committee (signed by the chairman of the regional executive committee K.A. Sumar dated January 5, 2012) awarded the Brest Regional Youth Public Association “Disabled and Environment” with a Certificate.
The award ceremony took place in the assembly hall of the Territorial Center for Social Services for the Population of the Leninsky District of Brest on February 22, 2012. When presented, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Brest Regional Executive Committee V.M. Khromov. noted the positive 15-year activity of the public organization of young disabled people in the Brest region aimed at assisting young disabled people in social, everyday, labor adaptation with their subsequent integration into society.
In particular, he drew attention to many years of socially useful work at the Sputnik tourist base (social protection fund), which grew, with the help of German partners Rüdiger and Biata von Hansleden, into the organization of a “Social Village” of a center for independent living for disabled people with a built workshop and a hostel for young disabled people. Over these years, 132 disabled people were temporarily employed and were able to earn a labor pension. Since 2005, the KeramArt ceramic workshop in Brest (director V.V. Borisov) with seven permanent jobs has been developing profitably and dynamically.
Particularly noted were environmental and cultural activities aimed at increasing activity in all spheres of public life, destroying stereotypes in relation to people with disabilities, promoting active rehabilitation and adaptation of young people. (5 environmental marathons on bicycles and wheelchairs with the ISAR eco-fund). For 8 years, BOMOO “Disabled and Environment”, together with the education department, the department for youth affairs of the regional executive committee and the city executive committee, has been holding the International Theater Festival of Special Theaters “Neprataptany Shlyakh” (I.V. Trotyuk, T.V. Zarembo), where about 200 specialists and invited guests from six countries of Poland, Ukraine, the Baltic States, Russia, Germany and Belarus take part (by 12-13 theater groups each year, whose members are people with disabilities).
Together with the territorial center for social services for the population of the Leninsky district of Brest, as part of the program to support Belarus, the Federal Government of Germany opened a center for meetings, information and creativity “Window to Life”. (creative workshop (Kazakevich A.G.), photo and video club “Poglyad” (Rachkovsky O.A.), theater and vocal club (Smolevskaya I.N., Gotovchits Yu.). The eco-cycling club (Boldenko V.V.) has resumed active work. An extensive program of the International bicycle local history expedition “From Belarusian Polesie to the northern coast of Azov” is planned for September seas."
Thanks to its effective activities in the interests of people with disabilities, the association has earned public recognition and enjoys authority in the Brest region and among foreign partners.
