From September 28 to October 1, 2012, a seminar on silk-screen printing was held at our workshop. The seminar was held within the framework of the project “Non-formal education of young people with disabilities”. The project is being implemented by the Disabled Person and the Environment with financial support from the Finnish Embassy in Vilnius.
The seminar was attended by young people with disabilities from social service centers in the Brest region, as well as representatives of public organizations and instructors on working with people with disabilities. A total of 20 people took part in the seminar.
Participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the entire printing process, from making a layout on a computer to applying a design to fabric or a T-shirt. By the time of the seminar, thanks to the project, our workshop had acquired new equipment: a device for tensioning nets, a computer and a camera. To make frames, we began to use meshes and chemicals from Itraco.
The participants of the seminar learned together with the guys from our workshop how to work on new equipment and could see the practical results in the products of the KeramArt workshop. Of course, we think this has inspired many to do practical work and we hope that in the near future our knowledge will help organize similar production in other workshops
The second part of the seminar took place on White Lake. We completed the silk-screen printing process and began mastering the production of plaster souvenirs. Participants learned how to make not only souvenirs, but also molds from silicone. Participants took home samples of handmade products and molds
The seminar ended with dinner by the fire together with the Brest volunteers who came to us on Sunday, and summing up the results of the seminar. We discussed the continuation of the project and outlined the directions of our joint work.
