A meeting of old friends and a new acquaintance after long months of quarantine took place on August 23, 2020 at the “Inclusive Center for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle” in Brest on the street. Moshenskogo, 66. More than 50 people with disabilities held exciting competitions “Sports for All” within the framework of the “Barrier-Free Environment of Opportunities” program of Small Grants of the US Embassy in the Republic of Belarus. At the grand opening and throughout the day, volunteers from the non-profit organization “Disabled and Wednesday” and the Seventh-day Adventist Church managed to unite the festival participants at four improvised sites for wheelchair sports into one friendly team of not rivals, but friends rooting for each other.
Sidorchuk Nikolay from Pinsk, with his passion and will to win, captivated all the fans and guests, causing a storm of emotions and applause during the obstacle course on a tricycle, which was organized by the cycling club "RaDeya". And during the competition in the Paralympic sport “Boccia”, in a stubborn struggle, despite the rain that began during the final throws, he literally snatched victory and took third place.
During the ceremonial award ceremony for the winners of “Novus” (sea billiards) and “Darts”, the judges told a secret to the whole world about the participants and guests of the competition about their interesting moments of experience and mercy that remained behind the scenes.
An unusual event of fifty extraordinary people, who during the course of Sunday were lucky enough to reveal and forget their natural and acquired raisins, ended with a very sweet table and friendly conversation.
A healthy mind gives birth to a healthy body.
P.S. Sports for children, as the development of a barrier-free environment, makes their lives more diverse. Most of us live with the idea that disabled people are people from another planet. The world is divided into weak and strong, good and evil, honest and not so honest.
Do you think there was weakness, a feeling of pity there, in the inclusive sports center? No! There is passion and the will to win, there are strong people there! Today the guys proved this, first of all to themselves.
The winners, of course, won medals and received nice gifts.
Despite the rain, the center was filled with warmth of communication, joy, and mutual support.
