An interactive motorcycle programme for people with visual impairments was held in Vitebsk. It was organised by the Vitebsk regional organisation of BelTIZ together with the Estetika Vozhdeniya motorcycle school.
Twenty people from Vitebsk, Novopolotsk and Orsha took part, along with representatives from the Russian Federation. Participants learned about different types of motorcycles and their technical features, tried protective equipment and took part in a themed photo session.
The practical programme included motorcycle rides as passengers. Some participants, including people who had driving experience before losing their sight, also tried controlling a motorcycle under the supervision of instructors.
Protective equipment, very low speeds and the supervision of experienced specialists were used to ensure safety.
Activities of this kind can give people with visual impairments an opportunity to gain new experiences and participate in unusual activities in controlled and safe conditions.
