REASONS FOR WRITING THE PROJECT.
Based on the work experience of past years, we have come to the conclusion that the effect of the environmental movement increases when it is instilled from school years, from adolescence, and not by legal regulations, but by an inner feeling emanating from each person. A cause started by individuals and supported by like-minded people leads to victory. Our young guys without arms, without legs, with their enthusiasm and courage with which they participate in the bike ride, with their example of a sanitary raid to remove garbage, will undoubtedly attract a large number of children vacationing near reservoirs at this time to the ecological improvement of the shores..
FEATURES OF THE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND ITS RESULTS.
50 young disabled people from the Brest region in 27 days, within the framework of the already established program “DISABLED AND ENVIRONMENT” and “GREEN LEAF”, carried out:
- constant sanitary care (raids) for the territory of the regional sanatorium and resort center White Lake under the motto “Garbage in the forest - plastic gangrene on the ground”;
- improvement of tourist routes, parking lots, health trails on White Lake;
- preservation of species-specific ecological masonry from beams with an overview of the dendrovegetation of local swamps near the tour. Sputnik base;
- spiritual and ideological activity “Harmony of soul, body, nature” along the entire route of the cycling marathon and at the neighboring White Lake base, where children from the Chernobyl zone rest.
- And as a logical conclusion, 16 physically and mentally capable children, on bicycles and wheelchairs, made an 8-day raid - a bicycle ride from June 17 to June 24, 2001. along the coastal areas of rivers and lakes, where children's and youth summer camps are located. We carried out mass propaganda and practical actions to improve the ecological situation of the shores of these places. We presented a healthy environmental message to a huge children's audience. They staged a mobile puppet show “Green Leaf” and additionally demonstrated a song repertoire on an environmental theme. They cleaned and improved the anthill on the territory of the “Forest Fairy Tale” camp and showed the deplorable state of wounded nature to the entire region through the press and television and with their heroism aroused a loving attitude towards our smaller brothers surrounding us in the forests and rivers.
PUBLIC RESONANCE.
This project for each of us is a positive emotion for life. It should be noted that many people we met along the way looked at us without understanding or approval: that’s just how people drive through the forest and collect garbage and clean out anthills. Nowadays even children do not understand this. But for the most part, people were amazed and perceived our actions as something spiritual and cleansing their vain hearts. The public received us positively and with approval. We received full approval from the regional and district executive committees and next year, with the same action, it will be easier for us. If the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus promised support, then with God’s help such environmental marathons will become traditional.
ASSESSMENT AND PROBLEMS OF PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION.
The reality is that we disabled people were greeted by our clothes (wary), but we were seen off by our minds (friendly with cordial invitations to come to other shifts). The majority of people were amazed at our action and perceived it as a spiritual cleansing of a vain heart from dirt and blackness. We, like little buggers of our huge green house under the blue sky, realized that a lot depends on YOU, ME, not HIM, but on YOU. Clever Laws and regulations cannot do anything if everything does not come from the heart and God the Creator. Everyone has a free right to choose: either YOU go to disaster or preserve paradise on EARTH.
